During clinical trials for the Dr. Maggie Skin and Coat, the product was administered to dozens of dogs and cats over a six week period during the months of May through July, when seasonal shedding was expected to be at a minimum. Most of the study animals were being monitored for skin lesions, as well as overall dryness and flaking. However, the studied animals were also combed once weekly and the fur that was removed was weighed.
Over the 6 week period, the discarded fur reduced by weight on average by 70-90% across the entire study group. The greatest reduction in shedding was recorded in dogs and cats with double coats, most notably Labrador Retrievers, Siberian Huskies, German Shepherds, Pomeranians, and long haired cats.
In addition to dramatic reductions in shedding, most of the studied animals experienced a noticeable improvement in the quality of their coats, with greatly enhanced shine and silky texture.
