Ingredients

Each tablet contains:

  • 500 mg Glucosamine Hydrochloride (HCl)
  • 400 mg Chondroitin Sulfate
  • 50 mg Vitamin C
  • Natural chicken flavour

Glucosamine and chondroitin are synthesized into the body, and increase synovial fluid in joints. Glucosamine stimulates the body’s production of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans, two essential building blocks of cartilage. Chondroitin suppresses the catabolic enzymes that break down cartilage. The effect of these nutrients working together is a combination of repairing cartilage and lubricating joints, while slowing the natural deterioration process. Pain, stiffness, and inflammation are reduced, and joint fluidity and mobility are restored.
According to WebMD (Medical News April 2000), “experts say the combination (chondroitin plus glucosamine) offers a one-two punch against the wear and tear of osteo-arthritis.”

Vitamin C increases glucosamine uptake to further enhance results.

Glucosamine Hydrochloride (HCl) vs. Glucosamine Sulfate

DR.MAGGIE™ ES Joint Formula uses Glucosamine Hydrochloride (HCl) as opposed to the more commonly used Glucosamine Sulfate. Glucosamine HCl is manufactured to a greater purity than the sulfate version. 1500mg of Glucosamine HCl provides as much useable glucosamine as 2000mg of Glucosamine sulfate for the results you and your pet need.

Side Effects

Glucosamine and chondroitin have been used for decades without any reported complications or listing of serious side effects. Unlike NSAIDs which can cause stomach upset and even ulcers, DR.MAGGIEES Joint Formula is safe and well suited to long term use. If your pet experiences gas, give the Joint Formula with food.

Painkillers and Other Drugs

Many pets are on aspirin or NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs – e.g. Metacam, Rimadyl) before they begin glucosamine/chondroitin therapy. It is advisable to wean them off painkillers over 4 - 6 weeks while the glucosamine and chondroitin are taking effect. If NSAIDS are discontinued too soon, your pet may experience pain.

Unlike NSAID’s which only mask symptoms, DR.MAGGIEJoint Formula actually improves joint function and mobility. It is a much healthier, safer, long-term solution which can restore quality of life.

Some animals with severe arthritis may occasionally need a low dose of buffered aspirin or NSAIDS to maintain comfort even with the benefits of DR.MAGGIEES Joint Formula. Always consult your veterinarian before administering aspirin.

DR.MAGGIESupplement for Skin & Coat, with omega fatty acids, lecithin and vitamins A, E, and D, is an excellent complement to DR.MAGGIEES Joint Formula.
