What the heck is MSM anyways?

Methylsulfonylmethane, commonly known as MSM or Organic Sulfur, is a naturally occurring sulfur compound found in soil, plants, and animals. It’s also the third most abundant mineral in humans. Organic Sulfur improves the immune system, reduces inflammation, reduces allergic reactions and repairs the body. It is often used for arthritis and tissue and joint repair. More recent studies have found that it has anti-aging and longevity properties.

Here are 4 reasons to start incorporating MSM into your cat and dog’s diet.

Skin and Complexion

MSM is important in the formation of collagen. Collagen can be found in muscles, bones, ligaments, skin, blood vessels, and even the digestive system. This protein is what makes skin strong and it helps build new skin cells. Dry, cracked skin or wrinkles, sagging skin are signs of collagen loss. Organic Sulfur increases collagen production and dramatically improves skin and nails.

Improves Joint Flexibility

MSM is essential for strong and flexible connective tissue. It’s important in the repair of joint cartilage and aids in relief from arthritis and other degenerative joint conditions. Organic Sulfur has the ability to repair cartilage and boost collagen production. It is a great supplement for halting damage done  and even helps to repair, strengthen, and lubricate damaged joints.

MSM Can Detox the Body

Sulfur is part of one of the body’s most important antioxidants. It is an antioxidant that helps protect the body from free radicals. It is the primary antioxidant for liver health and helps the liver detox the body of toxic substances.

Anti-inflammatory and Pain Relief Properties

Organic Sulfur is an analgesic, meaning it helps block the transfer of pain signals. It can reduce or eliminate muscle soreness, stiffness, cramps, and inflammation. Jockeys will give their racehorses MSM before a raceto racing reduce sore muscles and cramps.

Our Dr. Maggie Joint Formula has been reformulated to contain MSM and has greatly improved results. The original formula took 8 to 12 weeks to see results and with our new formula, we see results within only 3-4 weeks of use! It works with the other ingredients in Dr. Maggie Joint Formula to help joints stay functional.

Diet is another important part in maintaining joint health. Check labels to see the vitamin and mineral content of the pet food you give to your pets. If possible, switch your pets onto a more natural food that has essential vitamins and minerals. Here is a guide for dog nutrition and a guide for cat nutrition. Exercise is another important part of pet health. Help your pet build up muscle around joints to better protect them in the future. There are some breeds more prone to joint problems and may develop problems later on in life. By using what you have read in this article, you can better protect and help your pet’s movement and overall health.
